Saint-Tropez is a municipality in the department of Var, in southern France, situated on the French Riviera. Its population has about 6000 inhabitants. St. Tropez conjures up images of the good life, attractive people, yachts and money more than any other city in the Cote D'Azur. What today is a small town replete of glamour, not so long ago was a small fishing village

The city's name comes from the martyr saint Torpez who was beheaded in Pisa during the reign of Nero, was placed in a rotten boat with a rooster and a dog. The boat dragged by the sea, led to what we know today as St. Tropez. For 200 years St. Tropez was an independent republic, in 1673 the French army defeated the Spanish army in St. Tropez, so every year it celebrates the feast of Les Bravades des Espagnols. St. Tropez joined to France with privileges, until the arrival of Louis XIV, when the privileges disappeared .

The splendour of the city began in the 20's, with the arrival of the world of fashion and film. But if for some reason a St. Tropez became internationally known, it was an image, the image of Brigitte Bardot in Bikini in the film "And God Created Woman".

St. Tropez has a wonderful legacy. In the nineteenth century, Matisse and Bonnard fell in love with its light and its inaccessibility.
